DMUN EQUITY POLICY
At Danforth Model United Nations (DMUN), we are committed to creating a safe, inclusive and welcoming environment for all delegates, staff, and volunteers. Our policies are grounded in the Toronto District School Board (TDSB) Code of Conduct and the TDSB Human Rights Policy, which strictly prohibit any form of harassment, discrimination, bullying, or violence.
By attending DMUN, all participants agree to uphold these standards and contribute to maintaining a respectful, supportive environment.
Respect, Inclusion, and Safety
All delegates, staff, and volunteers are expected to treat others with dignity, respect, and kindness at all times.
Discrimination or harassment based on, but not limited to, race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, socioeconomic status, disability or age will not be tolerated.
DMUN is committed to ensuring full participation of all attendees. Requests for accommodations or support can be directed to the DMUN Equity Staff.
Bullying & Intimidation
DMUN maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy for bullying, intimidation, and any behaviour intended to threaten, demean, or exclude others. This includes but is not limited to:
Verbal bullying: insults, slurs, mocking, or humiliating language
Physical bullying: unwanted touching, pushing, or intimidation
Cyberbullying: harassment over social media, group chats, emails, or texts
Social exclusion: deliberately isolating individuals from participation
Any delegate or staff member found engaging in bullying will be subject to immediate review and may be removed from the conference.
Harassment & Discrimination
Harassment and discrimination of any kind (verbal, physical, written, or digital) are strictly prohibited. Examples include:
Derogatory comments, offensive gestures, or discriminatory language
Targeting someone based on personal identity, background, or appearance
Sexual harassment, inappropriate remarks, or suggestive conduct
Intimidation or threats of any form
Any behaviour that creates an unsafe, hostile, or uncomfortable environment will not be tolerated.
LGBTQIA+ Inclusivity
DMUN celebrates and supports diverse gender identities and sexual orientations:
Delegates and staff are expected to use correct pronouns and make a genuine effort to respect others’ identities.
Misgendering, outing someone without consent, or using homophobic or transphobic language is strictly prohibited.
DMUN is committed to ensuring that all delegates feel safe, affirmed, and included.
Accessibility & Accommodations
DMUN is committed to making the conference accessible and inclusive for all delegates.
If you require accommodations related to disabilities, medical needs, language support, or other personal circumstances, please contact the DMUN Equity Advisor.
We will work diligently to ensure every participant can fully engage in the conference experience.
Social Media & Digital Conduct
Our equity policy apppies both in person and online:
Social media, group chats, and other digital spaces connected to DMUN must be respectful and inclusive.
Cyberbullying, harassment, or sharing private information of another delegate or staff without consent is strictly prohibited.
Any online conduct that violates this policy will result in the same consequences as in-person incidents.
Reporting Procedure
If you experience or witness harassment, bullying, discrimination or any unsafe behaviour, you can report it in any of the following ways:
Speak directly to the Equity Advisor or a DMUN Secretariat
Submit a report through the DMUN Equity Form (Access Equity Form Here)
Speak with your Faculty Advisor or another trusted adult
All reports will be handled confidentially, with safety, dignity, and respect as our top priorities.
Consequences of Policy Violations
The DMUN Secretary General and Equity Advisor reserves the right to take any necessesary action in response to violations of this policy, including:
Verbal or written warnings
Removal from committee sessions
Dismissal from the conference
